How Grant Stacking Works
1
Federal Foundation
WIOA and Workforce Pell are available in every state. Together they can cover up to $17,395 of training costs.
2
Add State Grants
Most states run supplemental workforce programs on top of federal funding — adding $1,500–$5,000 more.
3
Special Populations
Veterans, single parents, SNAP recipients, and displaced workers qualify for extra funding layers.
4
Apply Together
SkillGrants helps you apply for all grants simultaneously — not one at a time. Maximum funding, minimum hassle.
Common Questions
The calculator uses 2026 federal income and eligibility guidelines from WIOA, the Workforce Pell Grant program, and state workforce agency data. It gives you a realistic maximum estimate — final amounts are confirmed at your local American Job Center or through your program's financial aid office.
Yes — grant stacking is legal and encouraged. WIOA, Workforce Pell, TAA, and state grants are designed to complement each other. Many of our learners receive $15,000–$32,000 in combined funding for programs that cost $5,000–$12,000 — meaning the grant covers the full cost and sometimes living/transportation expenses too.
No — these are grants, not loans. WIOA, Pell Grants, and state workforce grants do not need to be repaid as long as you complete your program. Unlike student loans, there is no debt created.
Higher-income earners may still qualify for Workforce Pell (which removed all income limits in 2024) and many state grants that are sector-specific rather than income-based. Run the calculator with your real income — you may be surprised.
Typically 3–8 weeks from application to approved funding. WIOA Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) are often approved within 2–4 weeks. Pell Grant funding is disbursed at the start of each term. Some state grants have rolling admission and can move faster.
